It is widely used as an oxygen scavenger and corrosion inhibitor in oilfields, especially in upstream operations. It also serves as a dechlorinating agent in water treatment plants, and is used in caramel color manufacturing, photographic chemical processes, and the paper & pulp industry for bleaching.
